Classes

Hatha Yoga: Also known as hatha vidya or the "science of hatha" yoga. The word Hatha comes from combining the two Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning sun and "tha" meaning moon. When the two components of the word are placed together, "hatha" means "forceful", implying that powerful work must be done to purify the body. Union of mind-body-spirit can be attained through the practice of postures, breathing, and internal cleansings.

Ashtanga Yoga/ Power Yoga: An athletic, fast-paced yoga that links the breath with each movement throughout the practice. Power yoga is a derivative of Ashtanga Yoga using a more creative sequencing of poses.

Pranayama & Breathing: Discover the power of breathing exercises developed by the ancient yogis for purification. Prana = “life force energy“ and Yama =”control or mastery of“. Thus, Pranyama is used to control, cultivate, and modify the Prana in the body, bringing tremendous rest to the ever-restless mind. Conscious breathing is the one most powerful instrument to release stress.

Prenatal Yoga: Yoga is an ideal exercise for all stages of pregnancy. Prenatal yoga classes are taught with an emphasis on increasing body and breath awareness, learning pain management, prenatal bonding, and relaxation techniques to promote the well-being of yourself and your baby. Gentle, safe movements and stretches are designed to strengthen and open the body, allowing you to meet the challenges and transformations of pregnancy with confidence and calm. Prenatal yoga classes allow women to share their experiences in a safe and supportive environment providing a sense of community and friendship.

Laughter yoga: Hasya Yoga is a physically oriented technique that uses a blend of playful, empowering and otherwise "tension-releasing" simple laughter exercises. With gentle yoga-breathing and -stretching exercises, rhythmic clapping and chanting of Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha in unison a simulated laughter turns into real laughter. Laughter Yoga is done as a way to improve health, increase well being and promote peace in the world through personal transformation.

Yoga Dance: A creative full-body workout transcending the traditional limitations of mat-based activities through the expressive and flowing movements of dance.

Pilates: Tone muscles and strengthen the body’s core while improving posture, circulation, flexibility and the ability to calm one’s self. Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. It builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen.

The Early Morning Routine: Consists of a mix of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), guided meditation and simple tips on how to start your day in a way that is both grounding and energizing. Participants will learn a routine that they can take home with them in order to develop their own daily practice.

Soul Painting: Unlock habitual mental patterns in order to release creative consciousness that enable the perception of truth in all that one encounters. Meditation, observation and creation are key tools in this journey.

Biodanza: Biodanza, meaning to dance with life, is a fusion of music, movement and emotion. It is a scientifically proven method of personal development aimed at raising your capacity to communicate, to improve the quality of your relationships and your sense of well-being and happiness. It works by opening people’s sense of joy, self-esteem and self-confidence. It’s simple, direct and immediate. Ten minutes into a class, people have already found their sense of inner joy – a joy similar to that of a two year old – confidant, strong and from the heart. This sense of joy and self-confidence carries over into people’s daily lives. Over time, people find that life becomes more joyful. People start reaching for what feeds them in life and begin to change those things that are less positive.

Voice therapy: From childhood, we are told, Be quiet. Don't cry. Don't bother me. The unexpressed sounds we hold inside become physical tension. Voice work releases that tension by releasing the sounds themselves. First, we start with a variety of postures that encourage the breath to reach deep into the body and follow up with a series of specific vowels and syllables. As we give voice to these primeval sounds, there is tremendous release. Through a teacher’s guidance – our voice itself becomes an instrument of healing, freeing body, breath, and mind.

Alexander technique: A century-old, non-invasive, drug-free treatment method that reeducates people on how to support and move their bodies. It restores the body's natural movement and encourages the body to work efficiently. The goal of the Alexander Technique is to use the body optimally so that it functions as an integrated whole as opposed to a series of disconnected movements that create tension and pain. When the Alexander Technique is employed, we experience lightness, ease and strength - aches and pains disappear! The Alexander Technique puts you in touch with your body's core movement and taps into your body's instinctual intelligence, allowing you full access to vitality, grace, elegance and resilience.

Art therapy: Combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, color, and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings may be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate.

Power walking: We all have dreams of becoming fitter, leaner and stronger, and bursting with health and energy. Power walking can help bring you all these benefits. The technique provides a simple yet effective way of giving your whole body a thorough workout. You may also discover, as many others have, that power walking opens you to new experiences and that it brings mental well being as well as physical strength.

Capoiera: is an Afro-Brazilian art form that makes a ritual of movements from martial arts, games, and dance. The practice of capoiera is long renowned as a fitness choice that invites all the elements of an ideal workout. Its playful side is what attracts most of its followers. Indeed, the music, present throughout the class, sets an inviting rhythmic backdrop. Capoiera is a way to release the body from the stress of daily tensions by improving health and fitness. The freedom of movement in capoiera is undoubtedly the most alluring aspect.

Thai Massage: Pressure is applied along the body’s meridians, trapped energy is unblocked, and vitality is renewed. This massage incorporates yoga-like movements to stretch joints and balance major muscle groups.

Acupressure: Key points on the skin are targeted to release muscular tension and stimulate the strengthening of the body’s natural resistance to disease and other physical stresses.

Chair massage: Chair Massage is a relaxation massage where you sit in a special massage chair, designed to support the body comfortably. The massage is given through the clothing, using no oils or lotions. The Massage Practitioner uses a combination of massage techniques to increase circulation and relieve muscle tension, reducing stress and leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed!

Osteopathy: It is both a natural medicine and a treatment philosophy which seeks to identify areas of the body that are restricted or constricted, then gently ease these restrictions so that normal function can resume. As a natural medicine, osteopathy applies the knowledge of the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the body, to all diseases, disorders and dysfunctions. The tool osteopaths use is their hands. As a philosophy, there is not one technique that is specific to osteopathy, but its practice demands the body be addressed as an integrated unit and respect be given to all of the components of the patient: Body, Mind, and Spirit.

Reflexology: is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of the feet with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health. There is no consensus among reflexologists on how reflexology is supposed to work; a unifying theme is the idea that areas on the foot correspond to areas of the body, and that by manipulating these one can improve health through one's qi or life force.

Shiatsu: Shiatsu is a unique, non-invasive therapy designed to stimulate the body's inherent ability to heal itself. Literally translated, the Japanese word shiatsu means, "finger pressure." Shiatsu therapy involves the systematic application of manual pressure to the body in order to assess and treat a variety of conditions. Shiatsu treatments have a regulatory influence on the autonomic nervous system, thereby improving organ function and reducing muscle tension. It is founded upon the same principles as acupuncture, although no needles are used. It also incorporates the modern Western sciences of anatomy, physiology and pathology.

Lymphatic massage: or lymph drainage massage is a technique used to help increase lymph flow. Increased lymph flow removes harmful substances from the tissues and increases immune function. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in your body’s ability to heal from injury and ward off disease. It is essential to the body's drainage system for cleansing and filtering out toxins and bacteria. Lymphatic massage utilizes a very light pressure combined with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes. Immune system function can be significantly increased, improving metabolism and helping the body to eliminate waste and toxins. A strong immune system makes you feel balanced, happy and whole.

Acupuncture: It is an ancient form of Chinese medicine involving the insertion of solid acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to achieve a therapeutic effect. Acupuncture is used to encourage natural healing, improve mood and energy, reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body. It is safe and effective and is often successfully used as an alternative to medications or even surgery. Relief is often obtained with acupuncture when traditional medical therapy has failed.

Hot Stone Massage: Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps tight muscles release faster than in a traditional massage.
